{"id":5080,"date":"2015-06-30T09:20:51","date_gmt":"2015-06-30T09:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=5080"},"modified":"2015-06-30T09:20:51","modified_gmt":"2015-06-30T09:20:51","slug":"low-patronage-at-pt-mayas-album-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/06\/30\/low-patronage-at-pt-mayas-album-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"Low patronage at PT Maya\u2019s album launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unlike other gospel shows which have been attracting huge audiences at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre, musician PT Maya\u2019s launch of his album <em>Musadandaule <\/em>did the opposite pulling a poor patronage on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The venue was half empty to the extent that one was able to see through all the corners of the hall.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>The Daily Times, <\/em>PT Maya real name Peter Malombe said he was not shaken with the low turn up and hence vowed to launch his album in Zomba next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though things did not work out the way I expected, I thank God that I launched my album at Robin\u2019s Park, a venue which is every artist\u2019s dream,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maya said that people did not show up in large numbers because there were a lot of arts activities happening on the same day in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a free show by Allan Ngumuya at Comesa Hall, Piksy was performing at Blantyre Sports Club and there were also poem recitals at Blantyre Cultural Centre so people were divided since they are the very same people who attend gospel shows,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The show also saw some artists who were billed to perform not showing up.<\/p>\n<p>The artists who were expected to perform but did not included Grace Chinga and Ndirande Anglican Voices, a development which raised the anger of the audience as some claimed that they attended the show because of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very angry with the organisers of this show because they have manipulated us, they have lied to us.
