Reggae group Black Missionaries and Anthony Mr Cool Makondetsa on Friday put up razor-sharp performances at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre during a show that spilled over into the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n
The show lived up to its billing as a warm-up for Black Missionaries and Makondetsa as they head to South Africa tomorrow for performances.<\/p>\n
It was cold on Friday but this did not keep away fans from patronising the show that opened with a performance from female musician Find Codi and Mibawa Band.<\/p>\n
There have been shows at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall where sound has not been good but on this night it was faultless and the sound engineer did his job right throughout.<\/p>\n
Find Codi and Mibawa Band made sure they warmed the stage for Black Missionaries, Makondetsa and other Chileka siblings when they also shined with their performances.<\/p>\n
Find Codi is slowly making strides in her music career and she is mastering the stage as she interacted with the audience and controlled her voice well during her performance.<\/p>\n
Some of the songs that Find Codi and Mibawa Band offered were originally done by other artists but they did well entertaining the audience.<\/p>\n
In the early hours of the show, the audience was still young but it grew bigger by the time Makondetsa and Black Missionaries took over the stage.<\/p>\n
Some quarters while heaping praise on Black Missionaries for their quality life acts when it comes to sound, they have hit at them, saying their line-up of songs is predictable and without surprises.<\/p>\n
But for those who patronised the show on Friday, they will attest they got reggae vibes worth their money and they were satisfied.<\/p>\n
After Find Codi and Mibawa Band performance, Blacks came up with Chizondi Fumulani opening the chapter before Yanjanani Chumbu took over the microphone.<\/p>\n
Blacks\u2019 previous outings have seen Chizondi only leading in a few songs but this time he offered more to the amazement of the audience.<\/p>\n
This was surely a surprise package for them as Chizondi, who is also the main keyboard player for the reggae group, rose to the occasion with his husky voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople should just watch the space. There is more to come. I just want to thank my brother Anjiru for his encouragement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chizondi\u2019s music journey started longtime ago and he said he has learned a lot performing with late Evison Matafale, late Musamude and late Gift Fumulani and now with Anjiru.<\/p>\n
Some of the songs he led in vocals include \u2018Mr Bossman\u2019 which is in Kuimba 10<\/em>.<\/p>\n Missing on the list of the Chileka siblings was Khozie Masimbe, who is in the studio working on his latest album.<\/p>\n Makondetsa jumped on stage soon after a performance by Chumbu and he too offered the best of his songs and he performed for a long time.<\/p>\n The \u2018Mu Yuda\u2019 star also revealed that he is readying himself for new album this year.<\/p>\n Blacks, led by Anjiru, closed the chapter on the night and they too continued from where the others had left.<\/p>\n They performed for over two hours delivering songs from their Kuimba <\/em>albums before bowing out with \u2018Salimo\u2019 with the audience still wanting more.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a good show and people gave us support.
