POVERTY continues hitting most TNM Super League teams hard as they do not have their own uniforms and continue to use kits provided by league sponsors, TNM, in the ongoing Carlsberg Cup.<\/p>\n
Since the commencement of the Carlsberg Cup, most Super League teams have been spotted wearing TNM uniforms in Carlsberg Cup games raising questions if the teams do not have their own uniforms.<\/p>\n
Nyasa Big Bullets General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, said this only indicates that teams in the country are not doing well financially. \u201cMy brother,\u00a0 that is a sign of poverty in most Malawian teams.<\/p>\n
Most teams in the country are not sponsored and always look up to TNM to provide them with uniforms. And in competitions like the Carlsberg Cup where uniforms will be provided at a later stage, teams resort to using TNM uniforms,\u201d said Chigoga.<\/p>\n
Chigoga then called on team officials to change their way of running football. \u201cDespite not being sponsored, teams should at least go for affordable jerseys on the market than to fully rely on the jerseys they are given. We should not advertise our poverty,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dwangwa United Team Manager, Davie Mwandira, admitted that they do not have their own uniform and only rely on those provided by TNM.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, we use last season\u2019s uniforms that we received from TNM for our training sessions and games. We do not budget for jerseys because we know that competition organisers will provide,\u201d Mwandira said.<\/p>\n
Observers have always questioned the use of TNM kits in other competitions saying this does not look good in a country that aspires to run the game in a professional way.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi Competitions and Media Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, told The Daily Times recently that Super League teams were free to use TNM uniforms in their Carlsberg Cup games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
