AFTER staying idle for over a year, Tigresses goal-shooter-cumgoal-defender, Lauren Ngwira, has expressed her growing frustration over lack of progress on a potential deal to join the allconquering Kukoma Diamonds.<\/p>\n
Ngwira said she is confused and unsure as to whether she just has to return to Tigresses or wait until the transfer deal materialises.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is distressing that I have not played competitive netball since May last year when I competed in the last edition of the Airtel Money National Netball Trophy. Of course I train quite a lot but I still miss the game. \u00a0As of now, I do not know what to do to safeguard my career,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Ngwira refused to blame Tigresses over the team\u2019s failure to sell her. She also declined to state how she was making ends meet as her main source of income hangs in balance.<\/p>\n
The towering netballer was also the subject of a failed transfer when Alliance Capital Stars tried in vain to secure her services. Eventually, Alliance Capital Limited withdrew support towards Stars, citing lack of a conducive environment for the game\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
The company claimed that netball authorities did not do much to help settle the dispute. Meanwhile, Diamonds General Secretary, Chimwemwe Bakali, said they were waiting for Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) to intervene on the matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cLauren is one of our two key transfer targets. We have asked Nam to intervene,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bakali also disclosed that Diamonds were chasing Malawi National Netball Team and Thunder Queens centre Thandie GaletaSaenda.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel that if we add Lauren and Thandie, we will remain at the top of our game,\u201d she said. Nam General Secretary, Carol Bapu, declined to comment on the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
