{"id":50627,"date":"2017-07-21T10:41:02","date_gmt":"2017-07-21T08:41:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=50627"},"modified":"2017-07-21T10:41:04","modified_gmt":"2017-07-21T08:41:04","slug":"malawi-makes-cnns-26-amazing-places-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/21\/malawi-makes-cnns-26-amazing-places-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi makes CNN\u2019s 26 amazing places list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>C<\/strong>NN, the world\u2019s major cable network, has listed Malawi among the 26 most amazing places to visit in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The list is CNN\u2019s popular travel guide for tourists who want to visit the African continent.<\/p>\n<p>CNN has identified three places in Malawi that stand out; Nyika Plateau National Park on position ten, Mulanje Mountain on position 14 and Lake Malawi on position 26.<\/p>\n<p>CNN describes Nyika Plateau as, \u201cMalawi\u2019s largest park, which is one of the most unusual in Africa with a plateau cut by numerous rivers that reach Lake Malawi by way of waterfalls off the eastern edge of the mountains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Describing Mulanje Mountain, CNN said at around 3,000 metres, the Mulanje Massif is the highest mountain in central Africa and is split in two by the Fort Lister Gap, a broad pass eroded by the Phalombe and Sombani rivers.<\/p>\n<p>CNN went on to say, the mountain is distinguished by giant basins of rock and narrow gullies cut by fast-flowing streams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn route, expect to encounter monkeys, hares, voles and a carpet of enchanting wildflowers after the rain. Large numbers of butterflies are another feature,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Lake Malawi, which anchors the list has been described as one of the largest lakes in the world, dubbed \u201cLake of Stars\u201d by Dr. David Livingstone, who trekked here a century and a half ago.<\/p>\n<p>The report said the lake has more tropical fish than any lake in the world with 1,300 species.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the CNN list is the great migration of Tanzania, seconded by South Africa\u2019s Table Mountain while Djemaa el-Fna in Marrakesh, Morocco is on third place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CNN, the world\u2019s major cable network, has listed Malawi among the 26 most amazing places to visit in Africa.
