Top gospel groups in the country, The Great Angels Choir and Ndirande Anglican Voices will on Sunday share the stage at Chrichi Multipurpose Garden in Chitawira, Blantyre.<\/p>\n
The two groups alongside another gospel star King James Phiri will be on song in a show themed One Stage \u2013 Two Choirs and One Artist.<\/p>\n
Most of the gospel concerts which have been taking place recently have attracted bigger line-ups that have ended up with artists only offering less than two songs each.<\/p>\n
The trend has left people disappointed and many of the artists have compromised on their acts.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Chrichi Multipurpose Gardens we want to change how shows are done. We want people to be satisfied with the performances.<\/p>\n
We want to have family entertainment where artists perform to their best,\u201d said Wales Chakukuma, proprietor of the venue.<\/p>\n
He said this time around people will see the best of The Great Angels Choir, Ndirande Anglican Voices and King James Phiri.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe stage is for three artists. So they will all have time to perform for a long time and so it is also a challenge to them to come out with the best. We are looking at performances where people not only appreciate the performances but also get to know these artists better,\u201d Chakukuma said.<\/p>\n
This is not the first time for the venue to host such a concert as they have also done so in the past bringing on stage Faith Mussa and Patience Namadingo.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just hope people will come in large numbers to be a part of this concert. It\u2019s a unique concert and rare on that matter because we have two top gospel groups on one stage and performing for a long time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Great Angels Choir\u2019s music director Ephraim Zonda said yesterday that they were excited to share the stage with Ndirande Anglican Voices and King James Phiri.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy and we know it\u2019s a challenge for us but we have rehearsed and we can\u2019t wait to get on stage. The venue itself Chrichi has proved to be convenient when it comes to family entertainment and this platform will also give us a chance to drop songs from all our albums,\u201d Zonda said.<\/p>\n
He said the performance at Chrichi Gardens will also test them as they are preparing for another big event coming up in September where they are launching a website and will be sharing the stage with veteran South African gospel musician Sipho Makhabane.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will be a platform to give people a taste of what we will do during the launch of our website in Lilongwe. It will also be a time to minister the word of God,\u201d Zonda said.<\/p>\n
Nicknamed The Peoples Choir, the group has three albums to their credit namely Mutifungatire, Ndiyende Bwanji <\/em>and Mwasankha Ine<\/em>.<\/p>\n Ndirande Anglican Voices\u2019 lead singer Dennis Kalimbe said they were ready for the show on Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are ready to praise and worship with people.
