{"id":50484,"date":"2017-07-18T11:28:09","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T09:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=50484"},"modified":"2017-07-18T11:28:09","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T09:28:09","slug":"one-off-to-norway-two-to-brazil-in-move-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/18\/one-off-to-norway-two-to-brazil-in-move-project\/","title":{"rendered":"One off to Norway, two to Brazil in Move project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Music Crossroads Malawi has revealed that five young artists have been selected to participate in the Musicians and Organisers Volunteers Exchange (Move) programme.<\/p>\n<p>The new Move participants are expected to leave the country mid August to Norway, Brazil and Mozambique.<\/p>\n<p>Music Crossroads Malawi director, Mathews Mfune, said yesterday that they are working with the five participants, preparing them for the exchange programme which has benefited several young artists.<\/p>\n<p>Mfune said Lynne Mussa will go to Norway while Chisomo Makunje and Tiyamike Maulidi will go to Mozambique, with Waliko Gondwe and John Mchiswe set to go to Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticipants are already back. We had Asante Maulidi and Helen Nyasulu who were in Mozambique while Priston Mtonga was in Norway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Move exchange programme has been instrumental in shaping artists and other artists, who have been part of the programme include Chisomo Ngondo, Jaco Jana and Rebecca Mwalwenje.<\/p>\n<p>The programme sees the participants spending close to 10 months away from home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past, we have been sending the participants only to Norway and Mozambique but this time we also have Brazil. This is a great movement that aspiring Malawian young musicians should take full advantage to professionalise their careers,\u201d Mfune said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that they were impressed with the outcomes of the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of those who have gone through this Move project are doing well as musicians and some of them have been absorbed into the Music Crossroads as staff members, among them Bridget Shumba, Rebecca Mwalwenje and Sanderson Mphapo,\u201d Mfune said.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that some of the female artists who have been part of the exchange programme are doing well, citing Phalyce Kumdana, who plays the bass guitar and is a member of Daughters Band.<\/p>\n<p>He further said that the new round of exchange to send five participants has been approved by FK Norway.<\/p>\n<p>The Move programme is an annual youth exchange platform between Music Crossroads Malawi, Music Crossroads Mozambique, Musikk og Ungdom in Norway and Projecto Guri in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not the only programme we are running; we are also finalising the \u2018Hear Us Theatre Storm\u2019 productions with funding from Hivos and we also have a new EU project for young people in prison,\u201d Mfune said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Music Crossroads Malawi has revealed that five young artists have been selected to participate in the Musicians and Organisers Volunteers Exchange (Move) programme.
