Silver Stadium, home to TNM Super League giants, Silver Strikers, will be reopened next week, the Lilongwe team\u2019s management has confirmed.<\/p>\n
The stadium was closed in April to pave way for pitch maintenance.<\/p>\n
Silver General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, said due to the closure of the facility, they were spending K60,000 daily for hiring a training pitch.<\/p>\n
The club has since written to Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to allow Silver host matches at the stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would have loved to host Nyasa Big Bullets at Silver Stadium [on Sunday] but Sulom is yet to inspect the stadium. All renovation works have been completed and the stadium is ready for use again,\u201d said Nyirenda whose side won the inaugural Airtel Top 8 Cup after beating Be Forward Wanderers 10-9 on post-match penalties at Bingu National Stadium in June.<\/p>\n
Silver are using Civo Stadium as an alternative home ground while training at Bingu National Upper Stadium.<\/p>\n
However, Nyirenda could not disclose the cost of the renovations.<\/p>\n
Five years ago, Silver\u2019s management announced plans to upgrade the facility with an electronic ticketing system to curb gate fraud, but the project is yet to take off.<\/p>\n
Silver\u2019s sponsor, Reserve Bank of Malawi, placed an advert in yesterday\u2019s edition of this newspaper, inviting bids for the supply and installation of \u201can integrated e-ticketing and access control system.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe system shall comprise of an Event Management server, Access Control Server, and other associated peripherals.
