WORLD Vision Malawi has aided six district hospitals with assorted medical drugs worth K54 million that will mainly help women and children seeking medical attention.<\/p>\n
The drugs, according to World Vision Malawi Southern Region Associate Director, Jane Makina, have been given out to hospitals after they asked for assistance through the organisation\u2019s district offices.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of our obligations as World Vision is to promote good health among women and children. We believe that the drugs will go a long way in helping people seeking medical attention in such hospitals. We also want the relevant authorities to ensure that the drugs are reaching out to the rightful people. For us to ensure that, we will need drug usage reports from the hospitals,\u201d Makina said.<\/p>\n
The drugs have been donated to Nkhata Bay, Karonga, Mchinji, Salima, Chiradzulu and Chikwawa district hospitals through a project called \u2018Visits in Kind\u2019.<\/p>\n
Chiradzulu District Health Officer (DHO), Jameson Chausa, said the drugs will help about 300,000 people who are treated at the hospitals.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe receive a lot of people, including from Blantyre and Zomba districts, which have no district hospitals. We, therefore, require a lot of drugs. These drugs will help us a lot to give a better service to the people who come to this hospital,\u201d Chausa said.<\/p>\n
DHO for Chikwawa, Amber Majidu, said there have been gaps in medical supplies that the hospitals receive and the donation will bridge that gap.<\/p>\n
World Vision Malawi is getting the drugs through donations from World Vision United States and World Vision Canada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
