{"id":50126,"date":"2017-07-12T10:36:43","date_gmt":"2017-07-12T08:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=50126"},"modified":"2017-07-12T10:36:43","modified_gmt":"2017-07-12T08:36:43","slug":"mangochi-stadium-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/12\/mangochi-stadium-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Mangochi Stadium opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>C<\/strong>ONSTRUCTION of Mangochi Stadium has been completed and the facility is hosting lower league football matches.<\/p>\n<p>The stadium is the second\u2014 after the likes of Mulanje Park Stadium\u2014to be completed out of the five match venues whose construction commenced in 2015 under the Local Development Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Three other stadiums in Karonga, Kasungu and Rumphi districts are also expected to be ready before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Mangochi District Football Committee Chairperson, Darwin Nhlane, said the stadium has hosted six matches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased that we now have a stadium to host our matches. It is like a dream come true after a long wait,\u201d Nhlane said.<\/p>\n<p>Mangochi Town Council Chairperson, Ibrahim Kacheya, said the stadium was contributing to the council\u2019s finances through gate collections.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Region Football Association Chairperson, Raphael Humba, said he visited the stadium to watch matches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy for the people of Mangochi. They have a stadium that can even host Super League games,\u201d Humba said, adding that the stadium hosted the district\u2019s Presidential Cup finals last week.<\/p>\n<p>This week, the stadium will host a Premier Division match between Mangochi United and Hardknockers on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Mangochi venue is also expected to host a Carlsberg Cup encounter involving MDF Marine and Jidi FC on Saturday, with spectators paying K500 at the open stands and K1,000 for the VIP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CONSTRUCTION of Mangochi Stadium has been completed and the facility is hosting lower league football matches.
