MINISTER of Youth, Sports, Labour and Manpower Development, Henry Mussa, has disclosed that Kamuzu Stadium renovations will commence soon and the stadium is expected to be ready by September.<\/p>\n
Recently, Parliament allocated K1.5 billion for the renovation of the giant soccer arena, which Football Association of Malawi (Fam) recently condemned from hosting matches.<\/p>\n
Fam\u2019s decision irked supporters from giant teams such as Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers, who penned the minister to intervene on the matter and threatened to march if no action was taken.<\/p>\n
The ministry\u2019s spokesperson, Simon Mbvundula, referred the reporter to Mussa. The minister told a local radio station that government had purchased a new artificial turf from United States of America.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am doing everything possible to have the stadium renovated and that people of Blantyre should start enjoying games at the facility. People should just have confidence in me. This is just temporary as we are working on building a state-of-the-art facility in the city,\u201d Mussa said.<\/p>\n
Blantyre-based teams use Kalulu, Balaka, Mulanje and MDC stadiums in view of the Kamuzu Stadium\u2019s closure.<\/p>\n
