Co-owner of 15 Sports Bar & Lounge James Makunje Jnr said the country\u2019s Independence Day is the best day to reflect on the country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important to look at what we want to achieve in the next few years but we should start with celebrating our heritage. Once we accept who we are, the next step is to move forward and achieve our dreams. We should surely utilise the independence that we enjoy to make the country\u2019s future bright,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Proudly Malawi Day\u2019 is befitting the occasion because families rarely have the opportunity to celebrate together.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that not everyone would manage to go to their home districts that is the reason we want to create an atmosphere that will give the patrons that feeling of being proudly Malawian,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Some of the activities are Gule wamkulu, Beni, clothing stalls, food stalls, cocktail stands and big fireworks display.<\/p>\n
