As Malawi moves towards celebrating its 53rd birthday as an independent nation, Sunbird Hotels & Resorts, has prepared activities to celebrate with its patrons on Independence Day and the consequent weekend.<\/p>\n
The activities will be held at Sunbird\u2019s two premier lakeside resorts, Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi and Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima. The fun kicks off on Thursday July 6, at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge\u2019s Leisure center with a two day event dubbed \u2018Independence with the Legends\u2019.<\/p>\n
Sunbird sales executive, Atupele Kachepa, said the event will combine food, fun and live music on the golden beach of Lake Malawi.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll are invited to come and enjoy a social beach soccer tournament, snacks and drinks at the leisure center\u2019s bar as well as live musical performances from some of Malawi\u2019s local music legends including Sir Paul Banda, Joseph Nkasa, Thomas Chibade and more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The event will also host celebrated comedians, Mr. Jokes and Aunt Getu.<\/p>\n
\u201cTargeted to be a fun two day spree of enjoyable family fun, the \u201cIndependence with the Legends\u201d event will cost MK3, 000.00 for advance tickets and MK5, 000.00 at the door, per person,\u201d Kachepa said.<\/p>\n
Malawi\u2019s most popular live band the Black Missionaries commonly referred to as \u2018Ma Blacks\u2019 will be throwing it down at the Livingstonia Beach campsite alongside Anthony Makondetsa.<\/p>\n
