The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) employees have planned to begin their sit-in today demanding better conditions of service.<\/p>\n
A letter dated June 30, 2017 and addressed to Regional Labour Officer for the South, Limbe Police Officer-in-Charge and the Chief Executive Officer of Blantyre City Council alleges that management has been denying them an audience to discuss the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our sincere hope that this sit-in is legal and formal considering that all necessary procedures have been observed,\u201d reads the letter in part.<\/p>\n
In March this year, junior employees of Admarc went on strike demanding salary increment, better house allowances and leave grants.<\/p>\n
The workers also wanted their top management to be removed for forcing them to work beyond normal working hours without any incentive.<\/p>\n
They called off the strike after a round-table discussion with management on March 14 in the presence of the then Chief Executive Officer, Foster Mulumbe.<\/p>\n
The workers are now demanding the same salary re-alignment, an increment of leave grants, housing allowances and salary increment arrears for the 2016\/2017.<\/p>\n
The letter has two attachments, a letter dated May 18, 2017 and the other one dated June 5, 2017 which sought an audience with top management on the issue.<\/p>\n
Admarc spokesperson, Agnes Chikoko Ndovi, did not pick her mobile phone when contacted to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
