{"id":49570,"date":"2017-07-03T09:43:39","date_gmt":"2017-07-03T07:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=49570"},"modified":"2017-07-03T09:43:41","modified_gmt":"2017-07-03T07:43:41","slug":"admarc-staff-sit-in-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/03\/admarc-staff-sit-in-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Admarc staff sit-in Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) employees have planned to begin their sit-in today demanding better conditions of service.<\/p>\n<p>A letter dated June 30, 2017 and addressed to Regional Labour Officer for the South, Limbe Police Officer-in-Charge and the Chief Executive Officer of Blantyre City Council alleges that management has been denying them an audience to discuss the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our sincere hope that this sit-in is legal and formal considering that all necessary procedures have been observed,\u201d reads the letter in part.<\/p>\n<p>In March this year, junior employees of Admarc went on strike demanding salary increment, better house allowances and leave grants.<\/p>\n<p>The workers also wanted their top management to be removed for forcing them to work beyond normal working hours without any incentive.<\/p>\n<p>They called off the strike after a round-table discussion with management on March 14 in the presence of the then Chief Executive Officer, Foster Mulumbe.<\/p>\n<p>The workers are now demanding the same salary re-alignment, an increment of leave grants, housing allowances and salary increment arrears for the 2016\/2017.<\/p>\n<p>The letter has two attachments, a letter dated May 18, 2017 and the other one dated June 5, 2017 which sought an audience with top management on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Admarc spokesperson, Agnes Chikoko Ndovi, did not pick her mobile phone when contacted to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) employees have planned to begin their sit-in today demanding better conditions of service.
