{"id":49537,"date":"2017-07-03T09:06:19","date_gmt":"2017-07-03T07:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=49537"},"modified":"2017-07-03T09:06:20","modified_gmt":"2017-07-03T07:06:20","slug":"daliso-chaponda-announces-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/03\/daliso-chaponda-announces-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Daliso Chaponda announces tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The country\u2019s UK-based stand-up comedian, Daliso Chaponda, has announced his first tour.<\/p>\n<p>According to www.chortle. co.uk, Daliso, who came third in this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent, is going full throttle with the tour titled What the African Said.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian, son to former minister George Chaponda, has since been signed by CKP Productions and Road Global.<\/p>\n<p>CKP Productions and Roar Global is one of the biggest and best UK agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso is using his success in the Britain\u2019s Got Talent show to launch a 31-date UK tour for next year.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, the tour also follows the commission of his first Radio 4 show, Citizen of Nowhere, which will also air next year.<\/p>\n<p>The Malawian-born comedian is one of the biggest hits of this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent, with clips of his appearances attracting more than 12 million views on YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>The stand-up comedian who was recently featured on BBC Focus on Africa was fast-tracked to the semi-finals when Amanda Holden used her \u2018golden buzzer\u2019 to put him through.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso said: \u201cLaughter is how I cope with pain. I have seen and experienced some horrible things but laughter helped me cope. Telling jokes is doing me a favour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daliso had never seen stand-up comedy until he went to Montreal\u2019s Just for Laughs festival in Canada, and as there was no comedy circuit in the country at the time, he moved to the UK to start his career.<\/p>\n<p>He has since had several performances in Africa including Malawi, but has fallen foul of censors.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso is also a prolific fiction writer and co-created and starred in Radio 4\u2019s drama When the Laughter Stops in 2014<\/p>\n<p>His tour will start on February 8 2018 at Nottingham\u2019s Glee Club and end at Edinburgh\u2019s Queens Hall on April 27.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso, who last weekend was the guest during the Malawi Achievers Awards 2017, has since said that he will hold more shows and that he was looking forward to performing in Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The country\u2019s UK-based stand-up comedian, Daliso Chaponda, has announced his first tour.
