Renowned golfers Connie Karuku and Steve Chisale emerged champions of a TNM Golf tournament held at Zomba Gymkhana Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n
In the men\u2019s section, Chisale, was counted in after scoring 45 points to emerge winner whereas second-placed Richards Mkwapatira was counted out after also scoring 45 points to finish as the runner-up.<\/p>\n
Charles Mukiwa scored 43 points and was counted in to finish on position three.<\/p>\n
Chisale said it was an emotional tournament following the death of his daughter last week.<\/p>\n
\u201cI lost my daughter last week and my wife was reluctant to allow me to play in this tournament. It took a lot of persuasion for her to give me the consent to play. So I came here and did the best for my wife and my departed daughter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In men\u2019s subsidiary prizes, Yohane Mzuza hit the longest drive whereas Muhammad Patel won the nearest to the pin.<\/p>\n
In the ladies\u2019 section, Karuku, playing of handicap 15, scored 42 points to emerge winner.<\/p>\n
Bose Kamphulusa finished as the runner-up with 36 points.<\/p>\n
In ladies\u2019 subsidiary prizes, Beatrice Mangwana won the longest drive.<\/p>\n
In a category for TNM employees, Harriet Marian was crowned champion with 36 points.<\/p>\n
The tournament attracted a field of 67 golfers, breaking the past four years\u2019 record which stood at 56.<\/p>\n
TNM Chief Officer (Enterprise Services), Vishwajeet Deshmukh, said the company organised the tournament to promote its digital transformation services which offer a wide range of products and services that ease business operations, hence reducing the cost of doing business.<\/p>\n
