{"id":49142,"date":"2017-06-26T09:03:13","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T07:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=49142"},"modified":"2017-06-26T09:03:15","modified_gmt":"2017-06-26T07:03:15","slug":"faith-mussa-gets-special-achievers-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/06\/26\/faith-mussa-gets-special-achievers-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Faith Mussa gets Special Achievers Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Faith Mussa was very happy performing at the Glastonbury Festival in United Kingdom on Thursday and Friday where he flew the country\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n<p>But he was more than excited on Saturday when he received a special award during the Malawi Achievers Awards UK 2017 held in Leicester.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Mdidi\u2019 creator performed at the Malawi Achievers Awards 2017 which was headlined by Congolese singer, Awilo Longomba, coming straight from his two exploits at Glastonbury Festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank God for a second award this year. I really didn\u2019t see this one coming. Malawi Association UK, thank you for taking interest in honouring your sons and daughters from Malawi,\u201d Faith said yesterday soon after being decorated.<\/p>\n<p>In May this year the youthful singer and guitarist also received an award during the Nyasa Music Awards for his \u2018Mdidi\u2019 song.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cWe greatly appreciate your support \u2013 Malawi Achievers Awards UK 2017. This Special Achievers Award is indeed special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several people were given awards during the event which brought on board other renowned artists including the country\u2019s UK-based comedian Daliso Chaponda who came third in this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso posted on social media that he was happy to be a special guest during the event and also linked up with Faith.<\/p>\n<p>The stand-up comedian was featured on BBC Focus on Africa on Friday where he revealed some of his projects including performances in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe chilled with Daliso. He is such an amazing person,\u201d Faith said.<\/p>\n<p>On his performances at the Glastonbury Festival, Faith, who performed as a one-man band said it was a good experience for him and that he also managed to watch other artists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched Anderson Paak from USA, amazing rapper and singer who plays drums at the same time. Multi-tasking. I also watched Flaming Lips. At the Pyramid stage I watched Radio Head,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Faith performed first on Thursday at the Gas Tower stage before winding up with a performance at the Green Peace stage which is all about supporting green peace and protection of natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did both my old tracks like \u2018Desperate\u2019, \u2018Pamudzi Pano\u2019, and new pieces from the EP I am about to release under Beating Heart Records UK. The EP will be out in August and is titled <em>Kwathu Ndikonkuno<\/em>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Faith, in two songs he featured Afriquoi DJ and producer of the EP, Nico Bentley.<\/p>\n<p>The musician is expected back home next week.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the BBC reported yesterday that rock band Foo Fighters returned to the Pyramid stage at the festival performing on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>There were also performances by pop star Katy Perry who ended her debut performance by diving head first into the audience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faith Mussa was very happy performing at the Glastonbury Festival in United Kingdom on Thursday and Friday where he flew the country\u2019s flag.
