{"id":48872,"date":"2017-06-21T10:13:32","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T08:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=48872"},"modified":"2017-06-21T10:13:33","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T08:13:33","slug":"business-licences-to-be-ready-in-72-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/06\/21\/business-licences-to-be-ready-in-72-hours\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Business licences to be ready in 72 hours\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Blantyre City Council (BCC) has assured business operators that their licenses will be renewed within 72 hours of application to ensure that there is efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The council expects over 6,520 businesses to renew their licences for the 2017\/18 financial year which begins on July 1 while 600 new businesses are expected to be licenced.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a media briefing held in Blantyre recently, BCC Director of Commerce and Industry Dennis Chinseu said it is important that the city does not lose its status and he said business licencing can assist with this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe council\u2019s objective is to ensure that there are no illegal businesses and that there is compliance with various legal provisions such as hygiene and safety,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chinseu added that all businesses the council will continue to conduct inspection exercises to cover all businesses even those that operate at night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that some business owners avoid us in times of inspection, but we do deploy officers to the different locations for inspection,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Chinseu also warned business owners to look out for dubious officers and advised business owners to always look out for Blantyre City council identification and to never pay the officers any money as money is paid at the civic Centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Blantyre City Council (BCC) has assured business operators that their licenses will be renewed within 72 hours of application to ensure that there is efficiency.
