Tay Grin has said his performance for the first time at the Secret Solstice Festival 2017 in Reykjavik, Iceland on Saturday was another opportunity for him to reach out to a different audience.<\/p>\n
He described the festival as amazing and that he received great reaction from the huge audience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are opportunities we need as artists. The festival was amazing; it was a great outing for me, especially representing Malawi \u2013 the Warm Heart of Africa. I made so many contacts to progress and push my musical global,\u201d Tay Grin said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile-the award-winning artist, who is in Europe, United States and South Africa tour, has seized his outing in Iceland to raise awareness of girls\u2019 education in Malawi.<\/p>\n
Having performed at a top festival in Iceland, the \u2018Chipapapa\u2019 star is also expected to join a number of Icelandic artists performing at the Bjor and Bindi concert today.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will join a number of artists from Iceland during this concert. As I said before leaving Malawi, raising awareness of girls\u2019 education in Malawi is my passion\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI represented Malawi well during the festival and apart from music, I want to continue pursuing other causes which include raising awareness of girls\u2019 education in Malawi,\u201d Tay Grin said.<\/p>\n
The artist also had an opportunity of, among others, sharing experiences with American rapper Rick Ross and presented him with a walking stick which is \u201ca symbol of power.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI told Rozay that where I am from, kings carry a staff [walking stick] like the one I gave him. I got that particular one made for him before I left Malawi. It\u2019s made from rare African wood reserved for royalty. [Rozay] being the biggest boss, I felt it was only right to give him such a gift as great symbol of power and respect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tay Grin described Rick Ross as a great artist for his music.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have great respect for his music,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The musician, whose music is currently enjoying airplay on Trace Africa and has collaborated with several international acts, also had the opportunity to meet the mayor of Reykjavik Dagur Bergboruson Eggertson and Secret Solstice Festival owner Jon Olafsson.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a wonderful company and the mayor appreciated the efforts I am making, especially to increase awareness of girls\u2019 education in Malawi. As an artist, my duty is to use every opportunity to advance causes that will improve the well being of people who deserve our support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tay Grin, who got three awards during the Nyasa Music Awards in May including Best Male Artist, will perform in Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa on June 24 and June 25 respectively.<\/p>\n
He will also perform in United States of America in Dallas, Texas on July 1 and South Bend, Indiana on July 8.<\/p>\n
The artist will then return to Europe again finishing off his tour with a performance on July 29 in Ireland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
