Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has said Moyale Barracks FC will answer for failing to provide maximum security during their TNM Super League encounter with Silver Strikers at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
During the match, which ended goalless, a fan run twice on to the pitch and disturbed the match for three minutes.<\/p>\n
Three Moyale players left the field of play to \u201cassault\u201d the troublesome fan.<\/p>\n
Armed security officers appeared minutes later.<\/p>\n
Sulom General Secretary, Williams Banda, said if the reports are anything to go by, Moyale\u2014 being the home team\u2014was supposed to provide security.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have not received any report about the incident, so I will not comment much. However, for the players to leave the pitch, abandon match and do the job meant for security officers or stewards, is totally wrong,\u201d Banda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cRules and regulations clearly indicate that the home team is supposed to provide security by hiring enough personnel. In this case, it means Moyale is to blame. Sulom\u2019s course of action on the matter will be made after we get reports from officials who were there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moyale General Secretary, Precious Gausi, said it would be unfair if his team gets punished.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rules indeed say the home side is responsible for security provision, but I think some of these rules have to be revised because they are unfair.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hired enough security officers and stewards, but they let us down. But considering that I was not around [at the time the match], I will be able to comment much after we sit down as a team,\u201d Gausi explained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
