National Youth Football Association (NYFA) Chairperson, Chimango Munthali, has said the impact of Club Licensing System in the Super League has left FMB Under-20 Youth League teams in mixed fortunes.<\/p>\n
Munthali said some youth teams have benefited from partnerships with Super League sides whereas most junior sides have been exploited.<\/p>\n
Some Super League teams were forced to adopt Under-20 sides to fulfill the licensing requirements that demand top-flight league teams to have under-20 and reserve sides.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, it has been a mixed bag. Some teams have benefited while some have been exploited, a thing we are not happy [with]. We have communicated our concerns to the [Fam] Club Licensing System Manager Mr [Casper] Jangale,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Munthali said despite partnering with Super League sides, some youth teams were struggling financially.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are teams which were struggling but now they are doing very well after their adoption by Super League sides. We also have a number of them who are struggling for resources. Some Super League teams came, adopted the clubs, used the youth club to fulfil their club licensing requirements and dumped the youth teams,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Munthali singled out Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers for being exemplary in supporting junior sides.<\/p>\n
\u201cSilver and Be Forward Wanderers are good examples of teams who have very committed executive and technical teams that continuously support and monitor the development of players in their youth teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw Silver Youth winning the national championship in their debut season in the FMB Under-20 League. This was not by chance but due to high level of organisation and support within the team,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
