Southern Region Premier Division side, Ginnery Corner\u2019s hitman Dan Dzinkambani has announced his intentions to retain the Carlsberg Cup Golden Boot Award.<\/p>\n
Dzinkambani [not the MDC United legend] scored a hat-trick when he inspired Ginnery Corner to a 3-2 win over Chimbalanga FC at Milepa Ground over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Dzinkambani, alongside Prison United striker Lawson Chilewe, shared the award last year.<\/p>\n
But over the weekend, Chilewe failed to score during Prison\u2019s 4-0 win over Ngumbe FC.<\/p>\n
Over the weekend, Jack Bura of Balaka Eagles, Prison\u2019s Vincent Chabvi, Tony Biyasi of Nchalo United, MDF Marine\u2019s Yotam Maunde and Phillip Kisyombe of Cobbe Barracks also bagged trebles each.<\/p>\n
Bura scored when Balaka Eagles thrashed Bond-Tech 4-1 whereas Chabvi was on target in Prison\u2019s 4-0 hammering of Ngumbe.<\/p>\n
Biyasi, Maunde and Kisyombe scored thrice each when playing against Mighty Ivory, Nyambadwe Nyalapa and Nanzikambe, respectively.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi Competitions Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, has downplayed Central Region Football Association\u2019s failure to kick-start the region\u2019s games over the weekend, saying they were not ready logistically.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have recorded 58 goals in round one with six players claiming hat-tricks. This is a remarkable development in cup\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are expecting the Central Region to roll out the Carlsberg Cup this weekend, which will see nine teams bowing out. Some 16 teams will battle it out this week in the Southern Region and six teams will be in action in the Northern Region. This means that eight teams will progress from the Southern Region and three teams from the Northern Region. We will have 16 teams progressing to the national level,\u201d Zakazaka said.<\/p>\n
