Flames coach Ronny van Geneugden has said veteran midfielder, Robert Ng\u2019ambi, is ready to join camp ahead of the Cosafa Castle Cup.<\/p>\n
Ng\u2019ambi missed last Saturday\u2019s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Comoros Islands at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe after his wife was involved in an accident.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a press briefing at Mpira House in Blantyre, Geneugden Wednesday said the Platinum Stars versatile player called to notify him that he had sorted out issues to do with his wife\u2019s accident and was ready to join camp as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cRobert is an experienced player and I need to see him in my team. It is good that he has been communicating regularly about his wife\u2019s condition. Now he says he wants to join us. We are keeping our fingers crossed as we wait for his team to release him,\u201d Geneugden said.<\/p>\n
The Belgian also said he had called Azam Tigers goalkeeper, William Thole, into camp to help with drills that needed five goalkeepers.<\/p>\n
He said the technical panel opted for Thole because the initial choice of Silver Strikers custodian, Bright Munthali, was not viable as he had to travel from Lilongwe to Blantyre.<\/p>\n
Geneugden hailed the team spirit in camp, saying his players\u2019 performance is so good that it would not be easy for other players to displace them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe team is like a train that has started off and cannot be stopped. My players are justifying why they deserve to be in the squad. Those that are not in the squad will find it difficult to get called up. But this is not to say anyone should be complacent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The expatriate coach hailed the open training session held on Tuesday at Surestream Stadium and said he is planning to hold another session before the team leaves for South Africa.<\/p>\n
Geneugden expressed hope that South African and Mozambican clubs would not recall their players as they head for the Cosafa Cup.<\/p>\n
