Relief Agency (Adra) Malawi Deputy Country Director Michael Usi who is also known as Manganya in the theatre world, has maintained that the Tikuferanji <\/em>soap is for Malawians and that they are always looking forward to giving them the best.<\/p>\n

Of late people have criticised the soap saying it is losing direction and that Manganya owns it.<\/p>\n

But the comedian, said they have always welcomed criticism and feedback from Malawians.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always said that Tikuferanji <\/em>is not for Manganya or Adra Malawi, it is for Malawians. This is why we have always valued criticism. At the moment there is a lot that people will see, for instance some veteran actors which people have always asked for like Jacobs Mwase and Frank Yalu are back,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Manganya said there was no bad blood with some of the veteran actors having missed out of the soap.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people have been saying there is bad blood between us but that\u2019s not the case. They were doing their own work but now they are back and people should also expect Winiko to come back. This is why we are saying Tikuferanji <\/em>is for Malawians and we want to develop it further,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said that people should come out and give in their views to improve the soap which airs on MBC TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want through the soap to handle critical issues and help build the country. Tikuferanji <\/em>is not for Adra Malawi, this is why if I drop dead today, it will continue,\u201d said Manganya.<\/p>\n

The actor also hit at MBC yesterday alleging that they tampered with their soap which aired on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me also put it clear that MBC did not do us any good on Saturday because our soap was tampered with. The soap which was aired was not the one which we approved and some lines were edited without consulting us. There was no connectivity within the scenes which to me was very unprofessional,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Manganya said they received heavy criticism from some quarters on the part of editing but he defended his team saying they have professional editors who understand their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur editors are professionals, they edited the work very well but MBC let us down. Actually what I want to say is that if they want to edit it they should be telling us otherwise we do not want to be giving Malawians a raw deal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Asked if he made any attempt to contact MBC on the issue, Manganya said he got information from within that Saturday\u2019s soap was edited and said he is planning to hold a meeting with the management.<\/p>\n

When contacted yesterday to find out if they had received any complaint MBC\u2019s Public Relations Officer Ruth Gama asked for a questionnaire which had not yet been answered as we went to press.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
