The top two teams in last season\u2019s TNM Super League, Kamuzu Barracks (KB) and Nyasa Big Bullets, found the going tough yesterday in their matches as they sweated to get points.<\/p>\n
The defending champions, KB, were held to a 1-1 draw by Mzuni at Mzuzu Stadium while Nyasa Big Bullets laboured to a 2-1 win over Blantyre United.<\/p>\n
A goal each from Bright Munthali and Fisher Kondowe was all Bullets needed to bag maximum points for the second consecutive match after last week\u2019s 3-0 win over Civil Sporting Club.<\/p>\n
Blantyre United got their consolation through Taonga Malenga with a few seconds before the half-time whistle.<\/p>\n
Bullets enjoyed possession for the better part of the game and could have scored more goals but substitute Muhammad Sulumba was, as usual, guilty of wastefulness.<\/p>\n
Blantyre United Team Manager, Shadreck Mpesi, conceded defeat and expressed concern that his team continues to concede easy goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur opponents are finding it easy to hit the back of our net. Yes, we may say we are also scoring but we must find ways of tightening our defence to stop our opponents from scoring,\u201d Mpesi said.<\/p>\n
His counterpart, James Chilapondwa, thanked his players for ensuring that the team continues with its resurgence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever said Blantyre United is an easy team must think again. They gave us a tough match. But thanks to our players for the win,\u201d Chilapondwa said.<\/p>\n
In Mzuzu, Mzuni were the first to score in the 14th minute through Zeliat Nkhoma before Chimwemwe Chisambi equalised four minutes to half time.<\/p>\n
In other results, Mafco avenged their two back-to-back losses to Moyale by hitting their Mzuzu-based counterparts 2-0.<\/p>\n
Ranken Mwale and Joseph Donsa scored for Mafco.<\/p>\n
Blue Eagles ended their fruitless trip to the Southern Region with a 3-0 loss to Red Lions.<\/p>\n
