Total Malawi has partnered with the Walkers family to open a Steers food franchise at their Area 36 Service Station in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
The partnership was officially launched on Monday at the grand opening of the Steers restaurant which the two parties believe would go a long way in advancing their businesses.<\/p>\n
Total Deputy Manager for Southern Africa Edouard Bourdin emphasised that the partnership signifies the company\u2019s intent to continue investing in Malawi.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are committed to growing in Africa and investing in countries that are growing as well and Malawi has been one of our focus areas in Southern Africa for so many years. With projections that Lilongwe is bound to grow its population from 1.2 million to 1.5 million, we see that as an opportunity to grow our business,\u201d Bourdin said.<\/p>\n
Hazel Walker Karim, one of the directors of the franchise, said that they picked Area 36 Service Station as a strategic point to serve travellers and residents in the surrounding locations with the best food.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople should expect really good food and a great service. We are catering to people from Area 36, Area 24 and all the surrounding areas and transit customers who are a big part of our customer base. It\u2019s such an exciting thing for this area because there isn\u2019t such a big venture within a 10 kilometre radius and people are excited and we are excited as well,\u201d Karim said.<\/p>\n
Lilongwe City Mayor Desmond Bikoko, who graced the opening of the restaurant, commended Total and the Walker family.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs par t of urban planning, this is what we are looking for because we want to move traffic away from the centralised location to the remote areas.
