{"id":47264,"date":"2017-05-28T11:28:02","date_gmt":"2017-05-28T09:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=47264"},"modified":"2017-05-28T11:32:12","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T09:32:12","slug":"mcps-potipher-chidaya-dies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/05\/28\/mcps-potipher-chidaya-dies\/","title":{"rendered":"MCP&#8217;s Potipher Chidaya dies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Long-time administrative secretary for the main opposition Malawi\u00a0Congress Party Potipher Chidaya has died.<\/p>\n<p>He died in the afternoon of\u00a0Saturday\u00a0in Lilongwe, the party has confirmed.<br \/>\nChidaya has been in the administrative office of the MCP since the\u00a0days of Kamuzu Banda.<br \/>\nAccording to her daughter Salome Moyo, the 73-year- old\u00a0 died\u00a0 of\u00a0 an\u00a0asthma attack though he has been, for a long time battling with\u00a0diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>Moyo says his death is a big loss to the family as he was their pillar.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi Congress Party acting spokesperson, Eisenhower Mkaka has\u00a0described Chidaya\u2019s death as disturbing saying Chidaya dedicated his\u00a0entire life to the party.<br \/>\nMkaka says Chidaya was a record keeper for the party calling him a\u00a0fountain of wisdom.<br \/>\nChidaya hailed from Nkhoma in Lilongwe but is expected to be buried\u00a0at Area 18 cemetery in the capital city.<br \/>\nHe was born on August 28 1944 and is survived by seven children and five grand children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long-time administrative secretary for the main opposition Malawi\u00a0Congress Party Potipher Chidaya has died.
