{"id":47221,"date":"2017-05-28T10:14:51","date_gmt":"2017-05-28T08:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=47221"},"modified":"2017-05-28T10:14:52","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T08:14:52","slug":"judge-nyakwawa-usiwausiwa-laid-to-rest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/05\/28\/judge-nyakwawa-usiwausiwa-laid-to-rest\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa laid to rest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE body of High Court Judge Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa was laid to rest at his home village Matipwiri, in the area of Traditional Authority Nthiramanja in Mulanje on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Usiwausiwa died in a car accident in Lilongwe on Thursday months after his appointment as high court judge.<\/p>\n<p>The accident happened on the Lilongwe Bypass Road near Bunda Turn-off.<\/p>\n<p>In his words, High Court Judge John Katsala who represented the Judiciary described Usiwausiwa\u2019s death as a great loss to the Judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really saddened by Usiwausiwa\u2019s death as it brings the number of judges we have lost from August last year to three. The Judiciary lost Justice Maxon Mbendera, Justice George Bakuwa and now this [Usiwausiwa], so it is really sad,\u201d Katsala said.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Samuel Tembenu, represented President Peter Mutharika at the ceremony and said it will be difficult to fill the gap created by Usiwausiwa\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs government, we feel that Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa\u2019s death is a loss not only to his family but to the whole nation,\u201d Tembenu said.<\/p>\n<p>Top government officials including Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda, Minister of Local Government Kondwani Nankhumwa and former chief justice Anastanzia Msosa were also in attendance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE body of High Court Judge Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa was laid to rest at his home village Matipwiri, in the area of Traditional Authority Nthiramanja in Mulanje on Saturday.
