Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Wednesday issued stern warning letters to Nyasa Big Bullets and Blantyre United coaches, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan and Leo Mpulula, while also meting out fines to Silver Strikers for various offences.<\/p>\n
In separate letters addressed to Ramadhan and Mpulula, Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, cautioned the coaches for their unpalatable pre-match and post-match interviews, saying a repeat of the same would earn them stiff punishment.<\/p>\n
Ramadhan was cautioned for slamming officiation and general organisation of Bullets\u2019 Airtel Top 8 Cup match against Silver Strikers played at Mulanje Park Stadium last Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe committee found you guilty of violating article 57 of the Fam Disciplinary Code as well as Article 24.13 of the Airtel Top 8 Rules and Regulations for openly criticising a match official labelling him [Mischeck Juba] as biased and incompetent, thereby violating the principles of fair play,\u201d reads the letter dated May 23 2017.<\/p>\n
For Mpulula, Gunda wrote: \u201cThe Football Association of Malawi has critically reviewed your media pre-match interviews ahead of the TNM Super League match between Master Security FC and Blantyre United, which was played on Saturday 20th May 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cFam found you guilty of violating article 57 of the Fam Disciplinary Code for insulting match officials, accusing them of being corrupt, thereby violating the principles of fair play. Fam, hereby, sanctions you with a warning and you are advised to desist from making similar comments in future or face tougher sanctions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The association also warned Masters Security General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, for insulting a Blantyre United official.<\/p>\n
Fam further fined Bullets and Silver K100,000 each for being found guilty of displaying unsporting behaviour during the quarter-final, second leg match<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the match, Big Bullets Football Club failed to take precautionary measures to control their players from invading and doing warm ups in the opponents\u2019 designated area against the instructions of match officials,\u201d Gunda wrote to both teams, adding that the teams can appeal within 48 hours from yesterday.<\/p>\n
