Mafco FC Coach, Temwa Msuku, has attributed the team\u2019s poor start to the season to lack of right players in some positions.<\/p>\n
Mafco have suffered three back-to-back losses.<\/p>\n
The Salima team started the TNM Super League with a 1-0 win over Civil Sporting Club before crashing out of the Airtel Top 8 Cup with a 6-2 aggregate loss to fellow soldiers, Moyale Barracks.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Mafco lost 3-0 to Mzuni at Mzuzu Stadium in a Super League match that exposed the visitors\u2019 defensive weaknesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are missing the right players in most positions as we are only improvising. We have lost several players who are on a peacekeeping mission in the DRC [Democratic Republic of Congo], so this has also affected us,\u201d Msuku said.<\/p>\n
Mafco are without regulars Paul Ndhlovu, Vitumbiko Phiri, Chifundo Phimba and Patrick Masanjala who are in the DRC.<\/p>\n
Another contingent of key players also left for a similar assignment last year.<\/p>\n
Mafco are also hunting for a replacement of marksman Richard Mbulu who, early this year, joined Mozambican side Club Costa do Sol.<\/p>\n
Msuku said he was working on the team\u2019s shortfalls and promised to return to winning ways.<\/p>\n
The coach, however, hoping for the return this month of the initial contingent of players from the DRC.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot wait for their return because it will be a blessing for our side. I know that it will also take time for them to make an impact but their return will be great news,\u201d Msuku said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
