Parliament Wednesday started with a minute of silence and a series of eulogies from leaders of four major parties following the death of Nsanje Lalanje lawmaker Sam Ganda.<\/p>\n
Leader of the House, Kondwani Nankhumwa, said Parliament is extremely saddened by the death of one of its hardworking members.<\/p>\n
Nankhumwa said it is even more painful if the country looks at the number of legislators who have died since 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cThings are not fine,\u201d Nankhumwa said.<\/p>\n
Leader of Opposition, Lazarus Chakwera, hailed Ganda for his contribution to the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe mourn with Honourable Ganda\u2019s family,\u201d Chakwera said.<\/p>\n
United Democratic Front Chief Whip, Lilian Patel, said Ganda was a politician who freely interacted with everyone regardless of their political colours.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will miss his friendliness,\u201d Patel said.<\/p>\n
Mzimba West MP, Harry Mkandawire, also joined the people in mourning Ganda on behalf of the People\u2019s Party.<\/p>\n
All Members of Parliament who stood thereafter condoled with Ganda\u2019s family for the loss of their relative.<\/p>\n
Ganda, who has died while seeking medical attention, becomes the fourth MP to die since May 2014.<\/p>\n
Others are Peter Mangulenje of Zomba Chisi, Billy Kanjira of Mchinji West and Highton Jiya of Lilongwe Msozi North.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
