The country\u2019s Ireland-based musician Pop Dogg will perform at the Africa Day Ireland Festival.<\/p>\n
The festival will bring on board several activities including performances from different artists.<\/p>\n
Pop Dogg, who was among the headliners in the Urban Music Party (UMP) last year said yesterday that he was happy to perform at the festival and fly Malawi\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n
The Ireland Africa Day Festival will take place on May 21 at Phoenix Park in Dublin.<\/p>\n
The organisers have since indicated on their website that the festival is expected to attract more than 20,000 people this year and will be celebrated by people across Europe and Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201c I am looking forward to performing at this annual festival which gives a huge platform to artists across Europe and Africa to showcase their talents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The artist said the platform will give him a chance to perform some of his songs including \u2018Malawi Moto\u2019 and \u2018Tchopa Ndi Manganje\u2019 which speak highly of Malawi\u2019s beauty.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are opportunities that we as artists long for. I am ready and for your information I will wear my African attire designed by Malawian talented fashion designers Sheila Banda and Dama Phiri, who are based in United Kingdom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Three live stages will be mounted during the festival for performances and according to the line-up, Pop Dogg will perform on the Atilogwu stage.<\/p>\n
This is a stage that will feature sets dedicated to rap, hip-hop and R & B.<\/p>\n
The other well-known stages are Malaika and Kwasakwasa.<\/p>\n
The festival will feature African and Irish musicians; children\u2019s entertainment; traditional African drumming, dance workshops; African food and drinks, arts and crafts.<\/p>\n
Pop Dogg said the Africa Day is all about celebrating the African continent and that his main aim is to represent Malawi to the fullest at the festival.<\/p>\n
Last year Pop Dogg also performed at the festival, which was attended by Irish President Michael Higgins who will also attend this year\u2019s festival.<\/p>\n
This year Irish Aid will be hosting this flagship event starting in the morning through to the afternoon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
