Member of Parliament (MP) for Rumphi East Constituency, Kamlepo Kalua, has accused some people from the Northern Region of aiding his abduction.<\/p>\n
Kalua, who is also People\u2019s Party vice president responsible for the Northern Region, made the remarks on Sunday during a whistle-stop tour of his constituency.<\/p>\n
Kalua was on Sunday May 7 found with legs and hands tied at Kwacha Roundabout in Blantyre almost a week after his family claimed he was missing.<\/p>\n
Police, however, said preliminary investigations revealed inconsistencies in Kalua\u2019s statements leading to a suspicion that the lawmaker staged the activities around the kidnapping.<\/p>\n
But during the tour, Kalua said it is sad that there is no love among Northerners.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me say that some Northerners are involved in my abduction. I do not know how they feel to eat bread and butter on the blood of other people. Some were rejoicing at my missing and prayed hard so that they can have by-elections [in my constituency], why can\u2019t they wait for 2019?<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I died, they would have claimed that it is suicide just like the late Robert Chasowa whose post-mortem revealed that he was strangled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kalua, who could not name the alleged people, said he will conduct a mass rally in Rumphi East where he will reveal all the names of his abductors and the reasons behind his abductions.<\/p>\n
He said he is waiting for an official report from police investigations and the adjournment of Parliament before spilling the beans.<\/p>\n
When contacted, Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera refused to comment on Kalua\u2019s claim due to the ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
