Malawi Defence Force (MDF) pugilist, Crispin Moliyati, was in a class of his own when he defeated Yohane Banda to snatch the national light-weight belt at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on Sunday.<\/p>\n
It is reported that Banda dominated the opening three rounds while aiming for a knockout.<\/p>\n
But reports suggest that most of Banda\u2019s punches were off target as Moliyati used his tricks of hit-and-duck.<\/p>\n
From the fifth round, Banda was reportedly on the receiving end of punches from Moliyati.<\/p>\n
After the bout, Moliyati said it was a sweet victory having lost the belt to Banda recently.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Banda) is one of the up-and-coming boxers, but I was better than him. I knew that I would beat him to win the belt because I prepared well for the bout,\u201d said Moliyati who has bettered his record to 19 victories from 30 bouts.<\/p>\n
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Banda was forced to defend the belt although he was on malaria treatment.<\/p>\n
Banda, who has suffered his second loss in six professional bouts, was not available for a comment yesterday.<\/p>\n
Organiser of the bout, Fanuel Katengeza, said he was pleased with the huge turnout and pledged to organise an international bout for Moliyati.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
