{"id":46103,"date":"2017-05-10T09:27:15","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T07:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=46103"},"modified":"2017-05-10T09:27:16","modified_gmt":"2017-05-10T07:27:16","slug":"carlsberg-renews-cup-sponsorship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/05\/10\/carlsberg-renews-cup-sponsorship\/","title":{"rendered":"Carlsberg renews cup sponsorship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carlsberg Malawi Limited has cleared the mist surrounding its elite national football cup sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>The brewer has renewed the Carlsberg Cup deal with the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) for another year.<\/p>\n<p>However, Carlsberg are yet to decide whether or not to continue supporting the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames.<\/p>\n<p>Carlsberg Malawi Senior Brands Manager (alcoholics), Twikale Chirwa, confirmed the cup sponsorship renewal.<\/p>\n<p>Chirwa said they will discuss with Fam on the Flames\u2019 deal.<\/p>\n<p>He said Carlsberg will hold a press conference soon to give an account on the extension of the cup contract and the future of the Flames\u2019 partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that Carlsberg Malawi Limited has shown continued interest in developing football in the country, but I will not say much as we have arranged a press briefing in due course to highlight more details,\u201d Chirwa said.<\/p>\n<p>He did not disclose if they have increased the cup\u2019s sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>Chirwa added that giving Fam the nod to kick-start regional qualifiers for the cup was an indication of good things to come.<\/p>\n<p>Carlsberg sponsors the cup to the tune of K40 million.<\/p>\n<p>Be Forward Wanderers are the defending champions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carlsberg Malawi Limited has cleared the mist surrounding its elite national football cup sponsorship.
