Peter Mawanga has said that the country needs to do more to market its music outside the country.<\/p>\n
Mawanga said this in an interview from USA where he is touring with his Amaravi Movement.<\/p>\n
He revealed that so far he has held over six shows and that their schedule has been tight.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have held over six shows but in all those shows we have received overwhelming support. Some people actually want us to come back. They are impressed with our music,\u201d the \u2018Zanga Zozama\u2019 star said.<\/p>\n
Mawanga said there was talent in the country but rather it needs to be marketed fully.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany people in the places we have performed do not know where Malawi is and some of its artists. But I am happy that we managed to perform at a place which has hosted top African artists like Hugh Masekela, Salif Keita and Oliver Mtukudzi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mawanga said to achieve the goal of marketing the country\u2019s music outside, the creative industry needs to unite and work together and not work in isolation.<\/p>\n
He said artists need to move out of their comfort zone and start thinking of making connections to perform in different places outside the country and not only target Malawi.<\/p>\n
Mawanga is on a tour with Alfred Sitolo, who plays the bass guitar, Omex Chimpeni on Mangolongondo and Craig Mawanga, who is the publicist.<\/p>\n
