{"id":45723,"date":"2017-05-04T10:37:27","date_gmt":"2017-05-04T08:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=45723"},"modified":"2017-05-04T10:37:28","modified_gmt":"2017-05-04T08:37:28","slug":"no-new-bills-yet-for-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/05\/04\/no-new-bills-yet-for-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"No new bills yet for Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Business Committee of Parliament has agreed that the upcoming meeting of Parliament will, apart from discussing the budget, handle five bills that were discussed during the mid-term budget meeting.<\/p>\n<p>President Peter Mutharika is expected to open the meeting Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The five bills include Constitutional Amendment Bill, Public Audit Bill, Political Parties Bill, Pesticides Bill and the Disposal of Assets and Public Procurement Bill.<\/p>\n<p>Leader of the House, Kondwani Nankhumwa, has said Parliament has not received new bills from government ministries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther issues to be tackled are the usual ministerial statements, committee reports and private members motions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nankhumwa said Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Goodall Gondwe, will deliver the 2017\/2018 budget on Friday, May 19, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs per standing orders, Members of Parliament will go for a cluster for a period of two weeks after the Minister of Finance delivers the budget statement in the House,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Business Committee of Parliament has agreed that the upcoming meeting of Parliament will, apart from discussing the budget, handle five bills that were discussed during the mid-term budget meeting.
