{"id":45616,"date":"2017-05-03T08:34:55","date_gmt":"2017-05-03T06:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=45616"},"modified":"2017-05-03T08:34:56","modified_gmt":"2017-05-03T06:34:56","slug":"malawi-queens-stuck-on-sixth-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/05\/03\/malawi-queens-stuck-on-sixth-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Queens stuck on sixth place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inactive and almost forgotten, the Malawi Netball Queens are stuck on position six out of 36 national netball teams in the world.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest ranking released last week, the Queens remain on second position out of seven national teams in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The latest ranking, which is revised thrice every year, has factored in matches played until March 19 2017.<\/p>\n<p>It, therefore, comes as no surprise that the Queens are static as they last played in November 2016 in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>During the Fast5 Netball World Series, the Queens left a huge impression, blasting aside well-resourced teams such as England to win bronze.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens are yet to start preparations for the forthcoming African Netball Challenge which Uganda is expected to host later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Some African teams such as Zimbabwe, Botswana and Uganda are gradually catching up with the once-invincible Queens.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s Spar Proteas, who are rated fifth in the world and number one in Africa, remain Malawi\u2019s biggest stumbling block to glory.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Australia, New Zealand, England and Jamaica make up the world\u2019s top-four ranking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inactive and almost forgotten, the Malawi Netball Queens are stuck on position six out of 36 national netball teams in the world.
