The match between Malawi\u2019s Flames and Madagascar\u2019s Barea realised a net of K22.3 million at the 40,000-seater Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Marketing and Commercial Director, Limbani Matola, has since described the amount as a fair reflection of the patronage of the African Nations Champions (Chan) qualifier.<\/p>\n
Some 31,119 tickets were floated on the market. For advance tickets, a seat at the VIP, Covered and open terraces was pegged at K7,500, K2,500 and K1,500, respectively.<\/p>\n
Match day tickets cost K10,000, K3,000 and K2,000, respectively, Matola confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMuch as we anticipated more, overall the figure represents a fair picture of what was on the ground considering that the whole eastern side of the terraces was not occupied,\u201d Matola said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was improved gate management and there was no hooliganism, pushing and shoving let alone incidents of fake tickets. Generally, the fans, despite the loss, contained their emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The gross for the second leg, first-round match is pegged at K23.5 million with Fam paying sales agents K1.175,000, representing five percent of the whole amount.<\/p>\n
Stadium management also pocketed 25 percent from the gross, translating to K5.7 million whereas service providers, such as Saint Jones Ambulance, stewards, ball-boys and the police, cost K3.2 million.<\/p>\n
The Sports Council, too, received its five percent cut or K860,000 from the gross. The cost of printing the tickets was K1,896,000.<\/p>\n
As gate managers, FDH Bank received K1,140,000 and Fam, which also hosted Madagascar and paid for the referees, went home with K9.5 million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
