{"id":45340,"date":"2017-04-28T10:01:55","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T08:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=45340"},"modified":"2017-04-28T10:01:56","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T08:01:56","slug":"malawi-courts-221-million-export-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/28\/malawi-courts-221-million-export-orders\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi courts $221 million export orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (Mitc) has recorded export orders worth $221.5 million from the United Arab Emirates-based Agra Middle East Dubai International Convention and Exhibition (AgraME).<\/p>\n<p>The orders are mainly for agricultural produce such as groundnuts, chicken peas, cotton lint, rice, cooking oil and soya beans.<\/p>\n<p>Mitc Public Relations Manager, Deliby Chimbalu, said their attendance provided the opportunity not only to promote Malawian goods for export to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but also to other countries in the Middle East and the globe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDubai\u2019s unique placement as a hub for imports and exports provided a great platform and opportunity for us to market what we produce in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat remains now is for us to inform the business community about these opportunities and make follow ups so that such orders are fulfilled,\u201d Chimbalu said.<\/p>\n<p>She said the AgraME trade fair positively exposed Malawian agricultural products to a market that is ripe for the export business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a barren country, the UAE imports almost all of its agricultural products as is the case with other countries in the Middle East. Compared to other trade partners with the UAE, Malawi is still looking to break into the market,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>During the previous exhibitions, more than 300 exhibitors from 30 countries were in attendance.
