Renowned radio personality, DJ and promoter Kennedy Mkombezi is no more.<\/p>\n
Mkombezi, who has also played master of ceremonies in several shows passed on at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He was laid to rest in Machinga Sunday.<\/p>\n
Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum) President Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango said on Saturday that the creative industry was saddened with Mkombezi\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the creative industry we are shocked with Kennedy Mkombezi\u2019s death. He was a friend to everyone in the creative industry. He assisted a lot of musicians by promoting their music,\u201d Mhango said.<\/p>\n
Mkombezi was born on August 12, 1978.<\/p>\n
He told the media in one of his previous interviews that he was a fan of music since his childhood and that he never knew he would be playing music.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dream was to become a priest. When I was selected to HHI Secondary School in Blantyre that is the time I began to love dee-jaying. I remember I used to bring discos at school and doing some sort of dee-jaying,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He is survived by a wife and two children.<\/p>\n
Mkombezi, who was nominated the Best Radio Personality in the Luso Awards in 2005, had stints among others with Capital Radio and Galaxy FM.<\/p>\n
