{"id":44674,"date":"2017-04-19T08:42:48","date_gmt":"2017-04-19T06:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=44674"},"modified":"2017-04-19T08:42:50","modified_gmt":"2017-04-19T06:42:50","slug":"ovation-fusion-festival-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/19\/ovation-fusion-festival-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Ovation Fusion Festival back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ovation Fusion Food Festival which debuted last year in August will this year be held in October, the organisers have said.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers, Ovation Advertising, yesterday maintained that they are serious with the event and that the food festival is on without fail.<\/p>\n<p>Ovation Advertising Head of Media and Public Relations Rodgers Siula said the country\u2019s premier food and music festival has a great deal of diverse delicious treats on the menu this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Ovation Fusion Festival will take place on the weekend of October 27 to 29 at the Bingu International Convention Centre\u2019s square.<\/p>\n<p>Siula highlighted that this year\u2019s festival will make a difference utmost meaning and will build on the momentum the maiden version attained last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, Ovation is extending its initiative to involve instrumental partners and we have a lot of exciting things lined up to make this year\u2019s festival incredible, outstanding and attractive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Siula described this festival as the only gathering that celebrates food with a fusion of music.<\/p>\n<p>He said this year they have partnered Think Pink Malawi \u2013a group that raises cancer awareness to organise the event.<\/p>\n<p>Siula said among other things, Think Pink\u2019s annual parade will wind up at the festival on October 28.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the festival, on this day which is a Saturday, there will be a wear a pink theme \u2013 from smoothies, candies, confectionaries to face painting and all the fun that comes with pink,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other activities that will build up the festival this year include two challenges namely, Malawi Bake-Off contest and Bean twist.<\/p>\n<p>In the baking challenge, Siula said amateur bakers will be showcasing their skills in leaking whilst in the Bean twist, people will compete to come up with a creative Malawian recipe for beans.<\/p>\n<p>He said the prizes for the two challenges will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said they are also working on bringing an international act.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the festival was held at the same venue but was poorly patronised.<\/p>\n<p>Asked why they did not stick to the month of August as a matter of identity, Siula said various factors influenced their change to October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter reviewing last year\u2019s event, we thought of shifting to October. As I indicated earlier, last year was a learning process and this year, we want it to be the best.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the organisers also indicated that they would be rotating the festival but Siula said the possibility is there but this year, they were still holding it in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Following its inauguration last year, Ovation Fusion Festival was invited to attend South Africa\u2019s food and music extravaganza \u2013the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival in Johannesburg,courtesy of Nedbank, and the ZamFest in Zambia courtesy of Zambeef.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ovation Fusion Food Festival which debuted last year in August will this year be held in October, the organisers have said.
