{"id":44635,"date":"2017-04-18T10:21:30","date_gmt":"2017-04-18T08:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=44635"},"modified":"2017-04-18T10:21:51","modified_gmt":"2017-04-18T08:21:51","slug":"former-ambassador-david-bandawe-no-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/18\/former-ambassador-david-bandawe-no-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Ambassador David Bandawe no more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Malawi High Commissioner to Zambia, David Bandawe, has died after a long battle with cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Bandawe died on Saturday morning at Kamuzu Central Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rejoice Shumba, confirmed the death in an interview on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Shumba said until his death, Bandawe served in different government portfolios including Deputy Clerk of Parliament and Chief Elections Officer at the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec).<\/p>\n<p>Bandawe then became Malawi\u2019s High Commissioner to Zambia, where he worked for about six years until October last year.<\/p>\n<p>Bandawe\u2019s brother-in-law, Bob Chilemba, said the body will be laid to rest today at his home in Dowa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did his tertiary education at Chancellor College and obtained a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Public Administration. He then went to Ohio in the US and studied International Relations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chilemba said Bandawe did not seek further employment after his tour of duty in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by a wife and five children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Malawi High Commissioner to Zambia, David Bandawe, has died after a long battle with cancer.
