Mchinji police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino identified the suspect as Mphatso Moses of Chindamoto Village in Traditional Authority Jali in Zomba.<\/p>\n<p>He said the arrest of the suspect is a result of a cordial working relationship between police and the community following a tip off from a well<\/p>\n<p>wisher who informed Mchinji Police Station about the suspect who was looking for a market within Mchinji Boma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis information prompted the police to launch an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect and the subsequent recovery of the ivory,\u201d Lubrino said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspect confessed that he was offering the ivory at a price of K1.3 million The suspect will appear before Mchinji First Grade Magistrate Court to answer a charge of being found in possession of specimen of protected species contrary to Section 86 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POLICE in Mchinji have arrested a 24-year-old man for being found in possession of ivory.
