{"id":44395,"date":"2017-04-14T08:24:09","date_gmt":"2017-04-14T06:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=44395"},"modified":"2017-04-14T08:24:11","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T06:24:11","slug":"fam-hails-futbolnet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/14\/fam-hails-futbolnet\/","title":{"rendered":"Fam hails FutbolNet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Vice President, James Mwenda, has hailed the FutboNet Programme, which uses football to promote morals among young athletes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough such initiatives, we might identify players that can be groomed into stars,\u201d Mwenda said on Wednesday at OlympAfrica Centre in Lilongwe where the Malawi Olympic Committee (Moc) launched the programme.<\/p>\n<p>During the games, Moc identified 20 players to represent Malawi at a two-day regional FutbolNet Championship in Zambia from June 10, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Zambia and Zimbabwe will also take part in the championship which Malawi won in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Moc Executive Committee Member, Dennis Kumwenda, said the boys and girls were identified through trials.<\/p>\n<p>A university in Spain developed the programme with the help of Barcelona Football Club.<\/p>\n<p>FutbolNet includes discussions, the actual playing and post-match discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Players discuss and set rules before a game.
