Mzuz-based musician and teacher Tiwonge Hango has said people will sample more of his acts this year.<\/p>\n
The artist, who made a name with the album Chinyengo, <\/em>which features the hit \u2018Mama Africa\u2019, has had a quiet period in music.<\/p>\n Currently teaching music in Mzuzu, Hango said he has had more work in his tray, hence scaling down on performances.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish I had more time to hold live performances but as a music teacher I have had a lot of work to do. But this year I have re-adjusted my programme and this includes holding performances,\u201d said the singer and guitarist.<\/p>\n The past years have seen Hango working with Karonga-based Lusubilo Band which saw him travelling with the group to Korea where he recorded a single \u2018Mkazi Wakumudzi\u2019.<\/p>\n Some quarters have hit at artists such as Hango, who have shown potential but have failed to grow their base.<\/p>\n \u201cAs I have said, this year I will do more and let me also reveal that I will release a new album,\u201d Hango said.<\/p>\n The artist also said the music industry has changed, hence one needs to take time to bring out the best.<\/p>\n \u201cMusic needs time and, again, you need to practice. So, my quietness has also helped me in terms of monitoring the market.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Urban music has flourished so I am looking at adapting and even collaborating with other artists,\u201d Hango said.<\/p>\n He has done well in terms of producing quality music videos, some of which he has shot outside the country.<\/p>\n Just to show his seriousness, the artist is already out with a music video titled \u2018Koloko\u2019 which he shot in New York, USA, and Malawi.<\/p>\n \u201cI have always believed in quality when it comes to music videos. Again, I have had to spend a lot of money [on production]. For instance, I shot \u2018Koloko\u2019 in USA where I worked with some producers there and also engaged a top model,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u2018Koloko\u2019 is a love song in which the artist is promising a woman timeless love.<\/p>\n Hango has done well fusing his songs with traditional dances, particularly from the Northern Region.<\/p>\n \u201cSince releasing Chinyengo<\/em>, I have not released any album. All these years, I have only concentrated on singles but now I feel it\u2019s time to drop another album,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Hango also said he has been using his skills as a teacher to impart music knowledge on fellow youth.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel talent is not for me alone so I normally take time out to teach fellow youth some of the basics in music.
