{"id":4431,"date":"2015-06-18T08:34:30","date_gmt":"2015-06-18T08:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=4431"},"modified":"2015-06-18T08:34:30","modified_gmt":"2015-06-18T08:34:30","slug":"trader-nabbed-for-fraudulent-forex-transfers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/06\/18\/trader-nabbed-for-fraudulent-forex-transfers\/","title":{"rendered":"Trader nabbed for fraudulent forex transfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) on Tuesday arrested owner of Intertrade Agency, Mohamed Rafik Amad, for allegedly using false customs documents to externalise funds worth over US$1.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>MRA Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs Steven Kapoloma said on two separate occasions, Amad presented false customs documents to banks for remittance of forex valued at US$720,000 and US$768,000 to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>On each occasion, Kapoloma said Amad justified the remittance as pre-clearance to import cotton seed but that the importations were never made.
