{"id":44162,"date":"2017-04-10T09:57:24","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T07:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=44162"},"modified":"2017-04-10T09:57:26","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T07:57:26","slug":"thousands-celebrate-palm-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/10\/thousands-celebrate-palm-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands celebrate Palm Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of Christians across the globe on Sunday paraded in the streets with palm tree branches to celebrate Palm Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>This is the day Jesus Christ triumphantly entered Jerusalem on a donkey just a few days before His crucifixion, as recorded in Matthew 21:1-11.<\/p>\n<p>Among the many churches that held Palm Sunday parades in Malawi was Limbe CCAP, whose members walked around with branches of palm trees in the streets of Limbe.<\/p>\n<p>CCAP Blantyre Synod Moderator, Robson Chinkwezule, said the day has huge significance on Christianity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem he did a lot of things such as removing those people who were doing business in the temple of God. That means He came to remove our sins. So people must believe and trust that Jesus came to save sinners and give them life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration comes barely days before Jesus Christ was crucified, so should Christians celebrate the suffering of Christ?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe weep over the dead who have no hope but in this case, we celebrate.
