Be Forward Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, has refused to comment on the team\u2019s Executive Committee\u2019s position that they will not trim the squad from 35 to 25 players.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf that is what the executive is saying, then it is their decision. They know our position,\u201d said Osman before refusing to take more questions Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Daily Times <\/em>had contacted Osman, who is supposed to recommend the players, after Wanderers Vice General Secretary, Christopher Kananji, had told Times Radio <\/em>Wednesday that it was hard for them to release the quality players they have.<\/p>\n Earlier, the Nomads wanted to off-load 10 players but they ended up signing Lucky Malata from Silver Strikers, Yamikani Chester (from Azam Tigers), Precious Sambani and Francisco Madinga (Namiwawa FC).<\/p>\n \u201cIt seems trimming the squad to 25 players won\u2019t work. The quality of players at our club has prompted us to maintain the squad,\u201d Kananji said.<\/p>\n Players such as Ishmael Thindwa, Jimmy Zakazaka, Ernest Tambe, Rafik Mussa, Foster Namwera and Ibrahim Sadik were reportedly earlier earmarked for the exit.<\/p>\n However, most of the players, especially Thindwa, have hit top form, leaving Wanderers\u2019 management with no choice but challenge the squad to win the elusive Super League championship.<\/p>\n \u201cWe started building this team two years ago and now we are satisfied with the performance of the boys. We had a meeting with the players and the coaches. We told them that we don\u2019t want excuses once the league starts,\u201d Kananji added.<\/p>\n Over the weekend, the Nomads beat Silver Strikers by 2-1 margins in two games played at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n Two weeks ago, Wanderers won the Wafawafa Big Four Bonanza to build on the Luso Television Bus Ipite Bonanza, Carlsberg Cup and Fisd Challenge Cup which they won last season.<\/p>\n Osman won all the trophies save for the Carlsberg Cup which coaches Eddingone Ng\u00f3namo and Elia Kananji clinched last season before being sacked.<\/p>\n Overall, Masters Security have the biggest squad having signed 22 players to make it 37 including those retained from the previous squad.
