Azam Tigers continue to lose their best players to big clubs with Nyasa Big Bullets snapping up top striker Bright Munthali as a free agent.<\/p>\n
Bullets\u2019 bitter rivals, Be Forward Wanderers, also benefited from the Kau Kau\u2019s failure to tie down their players to contracts by signing versatile midfielder Yamikani Chester.<\/p>\n
Bullets Interim General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, disclosed that Munthali had signed a three-year contract with the People\u2019s Team on a K2.5 million signing-on fee.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to have finally signed him. He is one of the best strikers in the country and he will surely add value to our team,\u201d Chigoga said.<\/p>\n
Tigers Technical Director, Robin Alufandika, confirmed the exit of Munthali, who scored four goals in the 7-1 whipping of Karonga United last season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw it coming anyway. He has not being reporting for training and we knew that he was talking to Bullets. He has made his choice. We cannot stand in his way,\u201d he said while accusing Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers of taking advantage of Tigers\u2019 inability to retain their top players.<\/p>\n
Alufandika said it was sad that the two giants are repeating the behaviour they displayed last year when they signed goalkeepers Nenani Juwaya (Wanderers) and Ernest Kakhobwe (Bullets).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not have the resources to tie down our best players. We expected the two teams to wear a human face and engage us as the players\u2019 owners. But they take advantage of our inability to provide contracts by getting the players for nothing,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi Transfer Matching Manager, Casper Jangale, advised Tigers to put their players on contracts.<\/p>\n
